Leadership
Difficult economic times require our elected officials to stand firm and make the correct policy decisions for the country and for Idaho. The U.S. economy is in a precarious position. With Senator Crapo holding key seats on the Senate Banking and Finance committees, he is well-positioned to take on the daunting task of restoring America to greater financial health.
Senator Crapo has also lead the charge on building proper consensus among the various stake-holders in tackling difficult western lands issues. The successful passage of the Owyhee Initiative is one of the landmark achievements of the Senator's time in office and set a new standard for crafting federal legislation that gave Idahoans a voice in the process.
Mike has also been at the forefront of health-care issues and awareness. As a prostate cancer survivor, he has promoted early detection and screenings, and a nationwide men's health week. He is also a member of the U.S. Senate COPD caucus.
Values
Mike Crapo has been a champion of education and family values during his elected career. As a father of five children, he has worked across the aisle for years in the fight against domestic and teen dating violence. In addition, Senator Crapo has supported reading programs, and donated books to schools throughout the state of Idaho.
The Senator also practices what he preaches. In 2010 he was awarded the Best of Congress by Working Mother Magazine, and award for workplace policies and commitment to moving important work-life legislation forward.
