Mike Crapo has spent many years in public service to the citizens of Idaho. He was first elected to public office in 1984 as a State Senator from Bonneville County. Within just four short years, he was elected to Senate leadership as the Senate President Pro Tem, a position he held until he was elected to serve in Congress. In 1993, he began the first of three terms as the U.S. Representative from Idaho's 2nd Congressional District. In 1998, he was elected to the U.S. Senate from Idaho. Throughout his time in public office, Mike has worked hard to represent Idahoans and he has demonstrated a clear commitment to strong, conservative values. His principles and commitment are evident in the numerous awards and recognitions he has received over the past decade or so. Those awards illustrate his strong leadership in agriculture, water issues, family and health concerns, and taxes/balanced budget. Here are a few of the awards he has received:
